Life is short. Yet, everyday we take our days for granted. As young people, we feel we are invincible, and that old age will be the grim reaper that comes to visit. Everyday some young person dies from pure accident, some incurable sickness, or ending their life to escapee life’s harsh realities. This is tragic in itself that young people are not guaranteed to make it to their 80s, life is not promised, but death is for certain. When it shall come no man knows the day or time, but if we truly live as if every day is our last day, we would leave the world better off.
When I say live as if this is your last day, I mean try and live out your purpose everyday. If you are a teacher, teach someone something new everyday. If you’re a doctor, aspire to bring a smile to a patient’s face. If you’re just a normal person dare to be an AMAZING person ALWAYS leaving someone better off than you found them. As we live, we must live with passion and the desire to do better. The world around us does not care if any of us make it to achieve our dreams or work everyday fulfilling our passion. It is up to us as individuals to use our talents and change the world around us.
I hear too much of death among young people and it breaks my heart, especially when so much can be avoided, we have all these wanna-be-thugs walking around tearing their own worlds apart because they can’t “find a way out.” I challenge YOU to take a stand in those people’s lives around you who are being self-destructive in any way. Some people need a hand up, and if no one ever takes the time to give them that they will always be caught up in their own demise. If you see a problem fix it. If you don’t know how to fix it, ask for help, BUT don’t sit around and do NOTHING!
Life is too short and we MUST stop taking our days for granted.
You will be missed Zach Shephard. Always so kind and loving. What a great life you lived, although you departed from this earth prematurely. God Bless and Keep your family!
